Nacional Holds River Plate to Draw

First Half Dominated by River Plate

Nacional held River Plate to a 1-1 draw in the first leg of their Copa Libertadores semifinal on Tuesday. River Plate dominated the first half and took an early lead through Julian Alvarez, but Nacional equalized in the second half through substitute Franco Fagundez.

Nacional's Second-Half Fightback

Nacional came out with more energy in the second half and were rewarded when Fagundez scored in the 65th minute. The goal gave Nacional a valuable away goal, which could prove crucial in the second leg in Argentina.

The draw leaves the tie evenly poised heading into the second leg next week. Nacional will be confident of causing an upset in front of their home fans, while River Plate will be looking to maintain their impressive record in the competition.

The second leg of the semifinal will be played on October 25 at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires.
